My daughter Julia has been with Quest Martial Arts since the beginning of third grade, almost eight years ago. She has earned a first degree black belt and is presently in the testing cycle for her second degree. I have witnessed an exquisite unfolding in Julia which I attribute greatly to the lessons learned through both Mike Bogdanski and Kristin Duethorn.
Julia has evolved into a person of true character. Her passion, compassion, dedication, and perseverance to her life events is truly remarkable. These include just a few qualities reinforced through participation with Quest Martial Arts.
The bonding that occurs is also exceptional. The instructors take every student under their wing and sincerely help them be the best that they can be. Julia considers her peers and teacher part of her family.

I just wanted to follow up on our conversation from earlier today. My son Cameron Driscoll is enjoying learning Martial Arts. I don't know how often your instructors are given credit for all that they do, so I wanted to make sure I let you know how wonderful they are.
When Cameron is challenged and having a difficult time they are right there to encourage him. They are patient and kind, and all about helping their students succeed. I always knew that about you, but it is nice to see it in all who teach there as well. Also, one last thing happened tonight that I cannot really describe how it made me feel.
While the next class of more experienced students watched, 3 students tried to complete their sit-ups for their stripe test. When the 3 students started struggling, the other class started encouraging them, counting down with them, until they succeeded. Can you imagine what would happen in schools if children got that kind of encouragement?
This made me realize from the top instructors to the newest students, you not only teach Martial Arts, but also life skills that will make all of us better because of it.
awaiting the successful student of Mike Bogdanski’s Quest Martial Arts Program. However, after watching the growth and development of grandson Zachary over the past nine months, you can now add my name to the believer column.
While the life skills approach to the training sessions is delivered with a disciplined approach, it
is accompanied by an equal amount of compassion and encouragement by all staff members.
As Zack has progressed through the various levels, he has demonstrated a vast improvement in
concentration and perseverance; and, with Master B’s guidance, he is developing an understanding that respect and self-control are qualities that need to be adhered to after the karate lesson is over.
Hopefully, he will continue to enjoy this activity as much as he does now, for the life- long
benefits will be a greater reward than the “fun” that he currently experiences.

I am putting this letter together as a reminder of how much I appreciate you and Quest Martial Arts as a resource in our community. We have known each other for many years, being involved in the community working issues that involve young people. As a therapist who specializes in working with young people and their families, I have had many occasions over the years to refer people to you and your school.
While the self-defense martial arts part is powerful for young people to learn, it is my confidence in you and your ability to understand young people and their individual needs. How the development of self-discipline helps build good character.
In our contemporary world these are often challenged daily. We know growing up can be full of difficulties and building a strong and solid sense of self can help kids to achieve academically and socially. They are more able to advocate for themselves, as well as others.
When they feel good about themselves in this way they are less likely to be bullied or tolerate peers bullying others. So thank you for being that resource. Regardless of client or personal friend I always know you will speak with me as needed and work with whoever it is to achieve the best outcome possible for that individual.
Keep up the good work Mike.

We, the staff and students of Plainfield Central Middle School would like to express our sincere appreciation for your contribution in making our “This is Your Life” Day such a success.
Without people like you, it would not have been possible by every account, the day was a resounding success. Students and staff alike were excited by the presentations. You shared your expertise, knowledge, wisdom and life experiences. Please know that you have helped to make a difference in the lives of children.
Positive comments were made by all involved. We are extremely grateful for your contribution to our school-wide event. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to be here for us.
We wish you continued success in all you pursue in life.
With many thanks,
Mr. Scott Gagnon Mrs. Christine Brooks

Dear Master B,
We cannot thank you enough for you exceptional H.E.R.O. presentation. One week later our students are still speaking about it and are making references to your presentation with staff and peers. We have even received phone calls from parents informing us of the positive impact this presentation has had on their child(ren). Your dynamic speak out seeped out of our school and into the homes of our families and community. In this day and age we must teach our children about the importance of respect, kindness and responsibility; the information that you provided to our students was not only significantly important but impressive as well.
We will continue to teach, re-teach, and remind our students to be “upstanders.” Thank you for contributing to this important message in such an illuminating way. Your willingness to disclose your own experiences serves as a powerful way in which to get the true message across.
We look forward to meeting with you again in the spring for the parent presentation. Thank you

This is just a quick note to thank you both for all that you do, as I sit here at work this morning reflecting on the events of yesterday. Thanks again for another great graduation last night, and as always the experience of training at Quest that both Sam and I benefit from.
The Desmond Family
My son has been taking karate for three years and no matter how busy his schedule becomes, karate is always a priority. He feels good about what he has accomplished in karate and this sense of accomplishment carries over into other areas of his life.
He is confident, driven, and holds himself to high standards. He has gained in strength, flexibility, and balance. He just started playing soccer for the first time and his karate training has helped him to quickly become an adept soccer player.
As a mom and teacher, I am very pleased with every instructor at Quest Martial Arts. While being fun, respectful, and positive, they also hold the children accountable and to high standards. I am incredibly thankful that my son is a part of the Quest Martial Arts family.
With her dyslexia and auditory processing disorder sometimes it's hard for her to understand what is asked especially if it's more then a few things at once, her anxiety kicks in and she's done.. I seen it in her face tonight, the looks she gets when she's overwhelmed and can't process what is going on... but, Griz, mr. Snay and mr. Mainhart were very patient and slowly explained it to her, while she still did not get all the way through what they asked her, she did not shut down completely which is huge for her!
Thank you for having an awesome school and teachers!
At Quest, my kids have become more confident, patient and better listeners while working on strength and fitness. They have learned self defense skills and techniques that have helped them in all the other sports they participate in.
While we signed up our kids for a fun learning experience, we have received so much more from the program they offer. The instructors are patient, kind, tough and professional. They offer a flexible schedule so we can work it into all the other things we do throughout the week.
We are all so happy we became involved with their martial arts program.

Dear Master Bogdanski,
I would like to thank you for presenting to our school. You were very accommodating and willing to work collaboratively to meet our unique needs. I also was pleased with how you utilized our input in designing your presentation. The students were very attentive and learned a lot.
Your message about bullying was heard throughout the halls after your presentation. The students have been helping friends that may be being picked on and are reporting issues in a more proactive manner. I have also personally used messages from your presentations when working with students that have been brought to the office for disciplinary reasons.
Your presentations have helped as a school to heighten awareness of bullying, increase self-advocacy, and the opportunity for the students and staff to have a common knowledge and language base in regard to bullying.
Thank you again for your time. You have helped to make Sterling Community School a better place.

I started martial arts late in life and had little idea what I was getting into. What I discovered was a combination of martial arts and character building, all with a positive attitude, that has transformed my life, including how I look at the world (and myself) and the role I want to play in it
All students are encouraged to be supportive of each other at all times, and they act it, which is rare in life. It feels like you are part of a highly functional family at Quest, and I love that feeling.
