Quest Martial Arts is the vision of Master Mike Bogdanski and Master Kristin Duethorn...
Formerly Mike Bogdanski‘s Martial Arts Center, our school has been located in Putnam, Connecticut for over 30 years.
Mike Bogdanski, the chief instructor, has been training in the martial arts for over 40 years. We are the only full-time school in Northeast Connecticut offering over 30 classes each week. The school is proud to offer classes for beginners at age 4 and up as well as advanced training for our black belts in Tang Soo Do, weapons, Juijitsu, Kali, Judo, Aikido, and Brazilian Jiujitsu. We offer leadership programs, have an active demonstration team, as well as a competition team which competes locally, nationally, and internationally.
Our base style is Tang Soo Do, a traditional Korean Martial Art. Tang Soo Do is a unique system which contains all the regular punching, kicking, forms and self defenses of other arts, but whose history and creation sprang from founder Hwang Kee's vision to have an art which centered on character development within the individual leading to the creation of a world with more peace and less conflict.
Tang Soo Do practitioners train to be peacekeepers; they learn to resolve conflict within themselves and within the world in which they live. They strive to live by the tenets of Tang Soo Do: Integrity, Concentration, Perseverance, Respect and Obedience, Humility, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit. Our lesson plans include these ideals as part of our students' everyday training. Moreover, they must exhibit these qualities in order to progress in rank.
We are fortunate to have a dedicated staff who train, teach and live the tenets of Tang Soo Do. All classes are taught by a lead certified instructor with a minimum of 15 years of teaching experience. They are always available to discuss your progress, to create a plan for overcoming obstacles, or to take a private lesson.
Because we are a school of families, we have a schedule and philosophy which embraces this focus. We believe that base classes should address the specific needs of each age group and level of experience. Therefore we break down ages and ranks offering multiple class times and days to meet the busy schedules of our families. Adults and children need separate classes in order to train with focus and an appropriate intensity.
We also offer subject-specific classes so that families may also have the opportunity to train together. Not all of our time in spent in the Do Jang (training hall). We enjoy traveling and competing in tournaments, participating in demos, or just having a social gathering at the beach.
Please take a look at our class schedule as well as the events page to get a good idea of all that goes on in the school. And be sure to check out the photo gallery, as pictures speak louder than words.
Quest Martial Arts offers a family activity that is more than just a sport.
We train hard, explore our potential, develop our character, contribute to our local community, and have a lot of fun!
